THE ORCHIDSTUDIUM PROJECT

The Orchidstudium Project congregates researchers and collectors of orchids, mainly of Brazilian native species, for the purpose of extending and spreading the knowledge of these plants.

Project's goal is the publication of individual and joint works, mainly through electronic media, thereby maximizing the distribution of orchid information and photographs at affordable prices to interested parties.

As the existing bibliography on Brazilian orchids is quite old and incomplete, the main project of the group is the publication of the Photographic Encyclopedia of Brazilian Orchid Species, a work that had involved the three authors in research that has lasted more than one decade. The Encyclopedia is designed to be a fast and practical tool for identification of orchid species, and includes nomenclatural changes that continue to occur, and descriptions of the species and genera beyond a detailed photographic register of each one of them. To date, this information has never been compiled in a single publication.

While the Project research will continue, other detailed complementary works of clarification and revision of genera and species will be published individually by the authors.

The Project Managers are:

Americo Docha Neto
Dalton Holland Baptista

During the course of the research the project interested many collaborators, to whom we thank for the inestimable contribution. Without them we certainly would not be capable of completing this work.
